Many of you know I have a new foster dog,Lilly. She came to us a little over a month ago. She is such a sweet,quite & gentle girl. We knew her outcome at a shelter would not be good because she is a pit/boxer mix. Just like some people judge other people by their color or the way they look,many judge this breed of dog the same way. I have had many dogs and many breeds of dogs in my life and Pit Bulls are truely one of the very best, most loving, amusing dogs there are. My goal is to get Lilly's information out there so that maybe somewhere out there the right person will see her and we can find Lilly's forever home.So,that being said this is the reason for my giveaway.

Lilly Update

Friday we had given Lilly her last round of antibiotics. The next day she started getting sick again. Mostly throwing up but she seemed to lose her motor skills and once again acting disoriented. Sunday she got worse so we had to call the vet to come in and took her to see him. She was pretty much lifeless the whole trip and in his office. But when he would talk to her she would always wag her tail at him and never got mad at him for all the poking and prodding he did. We found out that Lilly is blind in one eye and has some nerve damage to the side of her face she was hit on. After a long exam and blood test we still were not sure what was wrong but her sent us home with more meds. Can you imagine being hit by something hard enough to make you go blind,being dropped off in a place you have never been before?  She had to be so disoriented. Good news is today she is feeling much better. She even licked Lucy's face and acted like she waned to play with our other dogs.We are hoping once she is in good health again and knows no one is going to harm her she will have no dog aggression.

A wonderful website and Boxer Rescue group has been so kind as to help us find a forever home for Lilly. She is up for adoption there but  will remain with us till she is well enough to have her spay and recovery time.http://boxarrescue.rescuegroups.org/animals/detail?AnimalID=4326651

Snow Day!

 I have been so busy lately,I've not had time to create anything new,try new recipes,barley time for talking on the phone(what I do best;)). But I did find some time to take a walk in the snow with my doggies.♥

On our walks the dogs usually stay a ways head of me sniffing along their way. But Miss Lucy is always the most close to me, never too far away. As you can see everytime I knelt down to take a picture,she thought it was fun time and came barreling at me.

Sergeant Stubby

I find myself becoming a bigger fan of pit bulls and wanting to protect the breed more & more everyday. When we first found Lucy over a year ago because of all the bad rap I was somewhat reluctant to keep her. My heart told me she was just what she appeared to be, lovable,smart and silly. But as I was searching for information on the breed all I pretty much got was the bad rap. Pages & pages of horror stories. Since then I have learned most of the stories are not true. This is a awesome breed of dog who gets the worst case of bad rap ever.

I just ran across this story and had to share it.

Most people Have never heard of Sergeant Stubby, yet he is the most decorated dog in military history. Sergeant Stubby was a Pit Bull Mix who fought in the trenches of France during WWI for 18 months. During the 17 battles that this little Pit Bull fought in he warned his fellow solders of gas attacks, located wounded solders out on the battle field and listened for incoming artillery rounds. Sergeant Stubby was even responsible for capturing a German spy at Argonne who was mapping the layout of Allied trenches.

During WWI Sergeant Stubby’s heroism was well known and he became the only dog every to receive a battle field promotion in history. After one of the battles the women of the French village of Domremy presented him with a hand-sewn chamois coat, decorated with Allied flags and his name stitched in gold thread.

After the war, Sergeant Stubby was invited to the White House and met with three Presidents: Woodrow Wilson, Calvin Coolidge, and Warren G. Harding. He was, also made a lifetime member of the American Legion, the Red Cross, and the YMCA.

My brother strikes again & yes....MORE DOG PICTURES. :)))

My dear sweet brother brought me these cool old food choppers Saturday. He said he seen them at a yard sale and thought I would like them. Now how SWEET is THAT? Wouldn't even let me pay for them (probably because he knows I'm a tight wad and wouldn't pay what he gave for them,lol). I think they are so neat,thanks Bro!

Happy Birthday Lucy!

Happy Birthday Miss Lucy Sky ! As many of you know, we rescued Lucy last year when she had been dropped off on the side of a country gravel road. Being a pit with a bad rap we could not find a home for her so she became ours and thank goodness she did because we can't imagine our life without her now

At the time we found her our Vet thought she was around a year. Last week made 1 year to the day.
Her middle name really should be Lucy Love because she has so much of it to give. I have never seen a dog full of so much love for everyone and everything. Believe me, all the horrible "Pit Bull" stories are just that!

I am joy in a wooly coat, come to dance into your life, to make you laugh!

As many of you know TDIPT Mercantile is having a funniest pet contest. It's a great idea but me actually catching any of my pack at them funny moments with my camera is almost impossible. When we decided to have this contest I wore my camera around my neck like a big piece of Bling trying to catch them funny moments but I was never fast enough. One day Mr. GoldieLoo left his old work truck doors open and moments later this is what we found. I thought it looked like Lucy was taking Biscuit for a ride and imagined the things they would say to each other is they could "people talk" . :) So here are a few of the pictures that didn't make the cut.

Sorry to bore you all with yet another dog picture. I just can't help myself, I have a obsession with taking pictures of my dogs. It could be worse,at least its not a obsession with feet or something gross like that. :) Thank goodness for cell phones with cameras. I was able to capture this one of Lucy bringing us a stick to the door. She wants to bring all kinds of things into the house and always looks at us so puzzled like when we wont let her bring them in. She is always dragging up sticks, sometimes some the size of logs. Lucy is such a sweet little Pit Bull and the perfect example of how good natured and loving this breed really is.
