My day at the Museum

It wasn't nearly as excting as "A Night At The Museum" but there where some neat things at the Randolph County Heritage Museum. This is a small museum in a quant little town near by. I'm always fascinated by anything old & historic even if it's a old jar or tin, there is always a story to be told.

Here is a scene similar to the early days of the old one room school house. The kind my parents went to and have told me a great many stories about. My parents old school house still stands and now is the church they attend every Sunday.
For some reason I seem to have a fascination with disgusting Vintage Medical and Dental stuff. Here is another similar scene of a old doctors office. I'm not sure what they used the skeleton for, maybe to explain how the human body works. In the glass case are bunches of old prescription and medical bottles along with many various medical instruments. Note the things in the back are other things the doctor used for his patients.I think one may be a old x-ray machine and the chair was a examination table.

Many Quilts where to be found but this one caught my eye the most. I don't know a lot about quilts but have never seen this pattern. If anyone knows what it is I would love to know.

Again with my fascination for disgusting Vintage Medical and Dental stuff.
Here is another examination table, I find this one really freaky but interesting. Its made of wood and built small and narrow (seems like people were smaller back then so maybe that's why). Notice the little wood thingy's at the end of the table with the stirrups cut into them. That's some wild looking stirrups to me. At the other end is a make do pillow.Underneath is where the Doctor would keep the bed pan and supplies. Check out the porcelain sink at the end of the table...oh ho yucky! They say they dont build them like they used to but in this case I'm GLAD!

This is the Old Randolph County Court House today.

Here is a old photo of the courthouse back in the 20's. It dates back to the 1800's. Notice the broken panes.

Some of the old buildings on the town square today.

Some of the same buildings in 1911. They say the barrels in front most likely held flour, meal, candy or crackers. Gosh to go back in time!
