I wanted to share with everyone my sweet little Christmas card that never was. I spent quite a bit of time coming up with this one. When I went to pick them up something went wrong in the priniting process and half of the image was cut off. It was too close to Christmas to order more so this one never got sent out but I thought I would just share it right here on blog land and while doing so send everyone a Very Merry Christmas and wishes for a Happy & Healthy New Year.

Once again, I cut back a little more on my Christmas decorating. Although it's not a lot I wanted to share it here with you bloggers.

First of all I have to share pictures of my Christmas Mousey girl. My buddy Cookie & I did a little swap and this lovely is what she suprised me with! Isn't she just adorable! Poor girl, I just keep moving her around searching for the perfect spot. I may have to leave her out all year.

Thank you Cookie, I'll love her forever & ever!

Then this round fat fella is the new man in my life ;) He was a big suprise from my buddy Starla. She said he named himself Brrrrrr-ley which just so happens to be my father in laws name who we lost back in September so he is very special to us and we will always treasure him. He will live the winter(maybe every season;)) with us,sitting atop the end table overlooking my hubby's recliner. Thank you so much Starla!

It's The Most Wonderful Swap Of The Year!

...and it really is the most wonderful swap of the year. TDIPT swap that is. Most of you know that many of the ladies of TDIPT have several swaps throughout the year but our Christmas swap is always the best and most special.

Recently I came home to find this big brown box on my bar from my bestie, Big Brown Dog, Jan Davis.

Everything was wrapped so perfectly and pretty.

Jan sent along SO many goodies. Sweet little vintage Pit Bull tags,as you can see candy galore, sweet quilted ornies,some of the best pumpkin butter I have ever ate! The letter P (Jan I'm thinking about putting a safety pin on it so I can attach it to all my shirts like Laverne of Laverne & Shirley,lol)

How I adore my Santa hanger, It's absolutely perfect and prim!

I flipped out when I seen my Santa quilt & JOY banner Jan made just for me. The JOY banner is very special to me as we lost our Aunt Joy to cancer years ago. So my family likes to put out JOY blocks or anything that says JOY at Christmas time. Now I have my very own JOY. ♥

When my husband I first heard this song was just a few days before my father in law Burley Ludwig passed away. It gave us some comfort and sure to be a source of comfort to many others. If you get time be sure to listen to it. Its a song sang by a father to his child.

(These pictures were taken of Burley earlier this summer,he was just regaining his strength. This was his first time back up on the tractor in a very long time and one of the things he loved to do,cut hay )

Burley was diagnosed with Multiple myeloma about 5 years ago. After a long, long winter of chemo,stem cell transplant and emergency surgery to repair a whole in his intestine,Burley was in remission. Then one month ago he had to undergo surgery for his gall bladder.When the surgeon & his team went in to remove his rotted gall bladder things were much worse than they were prepared for. He was in ICU for 3 weeks before passing away.

We kept his funeral short and no sad songs. That was something he & I always agreed on was how horrible funerals were and to have such sad music only makes them worse. The song playing was the only song we,the family requested to be played at his grave side service but sadly the funeral home got it mixed up and nothing was played. The song you hear now was one of Burley's favorites and one we think he would have been happy we choose for him,it "fit" him.
Burley was always laughing and loved to tell jokes. Even when he felt so badly in the hospital he would still try to crack the Doctors & Nurses up.

Gone but like so many of our loved ones who have passed,he will never be forgotten. For those who knew Burely,we all have our stories of him to tell & his stories will live on.

Burley,RIP.~We all love & miss you terribly.

I along with many of my other TDIPT (To Dwell In Primitive Thymes) artist have made the October issue of Prims Magazine. Prims has done a awesome 10 page spread about TDIPT and will do another spread in their January issue.

Last year for our 25th wedding Anniversary my brother gave us this Anitique Medicine Cabinet which I blogged about here. As you can see by the pictures it was a mess,spiders & all !

Mr.GoldieLoo Woodworks has slowly been stripping it.

And almost a year later ... taa daa... here it is all nicely & perfectly restored.

I think Chuckster did a fantastic job on it.

A few of my old Medicine bottles & tins fit perfectly here. Sorry I didnt get any pictures of the inside. Its just as pretty as the outside.

Now lets see how long it takes me to get him to build a new Vanitiy to match. ;)

Cherry Almond Bars

Here is a recipe I just ran across,it comes from a Gooseberry Patch cookbook. These are soooo YUMMY ...and easy too.
Cherry-Almond Bars

1 C shortening (I used those little Crisco bars that look like butter; one bar is 1 C)
2 C sugar
3 C all-purpose flour
4 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 teaspoon almond extract
1 teaspoon salt
21-ounce can of cherry pie filling
*******
Blend shortening and sugar together; add next 5 ingredients and mix well. Pour (this is like cookie dough so you may have to use your hands to pat it onto the cookie sheet) 3/4 of the batter into a greased 15"x10" jellyroll pan; spread cherry pie filling over the top. Dot with remaining batter (I drop it by teaspoonfuls all over the top); bake at 350 degrees for 30 to 35 minutes. Drizzle with Almond Glaze (below) while still warm; cut into bars to serve. Makes about 3 dozen bars.

Almond Glaze

1 C powdered sugar
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/2 teaspoon almond extract
2 to 3 Tablespoons milk (I only needed 2; start small)

This is a OOAK GoldieLoo Woodworks design. I have made this sign before but this is the first one of this size (18" X 28" long). It is much larger than it looks. I used a cabinet door given to me by a good friend of mine several years ago. I really love the way it turned out. I base coated it in Lamp Black & Oatmeal. Aged it all over for a nice Vintage look & feel.

Just in time for Summer is our new Flag Pokes. These are so so much fun to decorate with.Stick them in a old mason jar,crocks,vintage bottles or maybe a floral arrangement,the possibilities are endless.

I have made these out of 1/4 plywood,they each measure4 &1/4" X 5 & 1/2" and are around 15-16" tall. I have used a heavy gauge wire for the poke part and attached 2 rusty bells to each one.

I got a wonderful package in the mail last week. From my new bestie, Lecia Stevenson. I have been admiring her Bonnets for sometime now & she was kind enough to suggest we do a swap. We agreed on a Bonnet & Table Runner for one of my Blackboards. Of course the dear sweetheart she is she sent along some extras. I was lucky enough that I not only got one Bonnet but 2! She also sent along a wonderful yummy candle.

Seems like its been forever since I have blogged about anything. Despite all the horrible flooding rain which has took its toll on the creeks and rivers here in the south we have had some nice sunny days.

And with those nice sunny days...besides seeing snakes we get to see a lot of new life, trees budding out and flowers popping up.

I was walking beside I old dog kennel in our yard the other day when I noticed some pine needles looked a bit out of place. Upon further inspection I could tell something was under it. So Chuck took a stick and gently moved the needles around which then exposed some fur. At first we thought it was a rabbits nest, we quickly covered it back up and left it alone. Today my curiosity got the better of me so I had Chuck use the stick to take another peek. The first time we seen them they had no hair but today they did and they had the marking of a chipmunk,minus the rabbit ears so we are pretty sure they are baby chipmunks. Hopefully I can snap a few more pictures before they leave the nest.

We have also been finding bunches of bird nest too around our place. Most of which have been mocking birds. This nest was built in my hubby's favorite tractor. I have to admit they built one in there so before they could lay eggs in the nest Chuck tore it out as he knew he was going to need his tractor. But a few days later we found another and with eggs so Chuck decided to leave them alone.

Pretty green grass and big blue skies.

The Rose bush was loaded this spring!

Then amongst all the rain,snakes,birds & Chipmunks I got surprises!! Yeah me!

SNAKE!! (Not for the squeamish!)

The Hog Nose Snake or this sneaky snake goes by numerous other names,such as "Blowing Adder, Death Adder, False Cobra, Hissing Adder, Opossum Snake, Puff Adder, Sand Viper, Spreadhead, Spreading Adder".

"This species has one of the most bizarre and exaggerated defensive displays in all of the animal kingdom! "
These snakes are all too common in our neck of the woods. We have seen many over the years but I have seen nearly 6 this year and 3 of them in the past 3 days!

"When first approached or threatened, a Hog-nosed Snake will begin to hiss very loudly. It will begin to flatten out its neck, revealing two large black spots on the neck. Although "primitive", these black spots likely act as eye spots (a common defensive patterning found in a variety of organisms--ex. large spots on the wings of butterflies). As the defensive display continues, it may eventually flatten out almost its entire body. If touched, it will "false strike" with its mouth closed. Some specimens, however, will gape their mouths open and their strikes seem more intent on actually biting. If harassment continues, a Hog-nosed Snake will deflatten, stop hissing, defecate, and writhe about for a couple of seconds. This maneuver acts to smear a foul-smelling musk over its entire body before the final ploy: playing dead! This species will roll over, flop its mouth open, stick out its tongue, and lie motionless! If it is prodded or turned upright, it will repeat the thrashing step and roll back over. After a few minutes of being left alone, it will lift its head and look for the "all clear". If it feels safe, it will turn back over and go on its way."

Their main diet is of Toads which most likely explans why we have so many since we have 4 ponds around our property."The upturned snout is perfectly suited for digging up a buried toad."

I have heard of these snakes all my life but never seen one till I was in my twenties (just a few years back ;) ;) ). I remember when I seen it my dog was trying to attack it. The snake "puffed" out it's head and looked like a cobra. I remember thinking, OMG,someone has let a Cobra loose and it's in my yard!

Although they are non venomous and completely harmless,each time I see one I scream uncontrollably. When I seen this one,after screaming for a few minutes I was able to run into the house and grab my camera. Using a 300 mm zoom of course,no way I could have gotten very close.

Banana Cheesecake Pudding

Banana Cheesecake Pudding

I took my husbands grandmothers recipe for Banana Pudding and changed it up just a little to make this yummy Banana Cheesecake Pudding.

You will need...

2pkg.(4-serving size each)JELL-O Cheesecake Flavor Instant Pudding

3cups cold milk

1 container of cool whip

1 can of eagle brand sweetened condensed milk

3 bananas

1 box of Vanilla Wafer cookies.

Mix together 3 cups of milk with the Jello instant Cheesecake pudding. Once you have it mixed well fold in cool whip & eagle brand milk. Mix well. Add half the box of Vanilla Wafer to a glass dish. Slice bananas over them. Add all of your pudding over this. Then top with remaining cookies. Chill & eat.

Note: You can make this low fat by using fat free cool whip, fat free sweetened condensed milk,low fat vanilla wafers and fat free milk. and it tastes every bit as good.

Yeahhhh! Thanks to Jim & Lorrie McCann, GoldieLoo Woodworks has made the pages of Country Sampler once again. Each issue of Country Sampler I scour the pages carefully to see if any of our work is gracing the walls of some of our buyers homes. Cream Cheese Danish

Cream Cheese Danish

These cold temps have me in the baking mood. This is not a good thing since I need to be cutting back but I try to share them so I'm not tempted to eat them all myself. ;)

2 tubes crescent rolls

2 - 8 ounce packages cream cheese, softened

1 1/4 cup sugar, divided

1 teaspoon vanilla
1 egg, separated

1 teaspoon cinnamon
Open and lay 1 tube of crescent rolls in the bottom of a 9 x 13 inch baking pan, making sure to seal the perforations. Combine cream cheese, 1 cup sugar, egg yolk and vanilla, mixing thoroughly.

Pour cream cheese mixture over layer of crescent rolls. Open and layout second tube of crescent rolls on a piece of waxed paper. Seal all the perforations. Place this layer over the cream cheese layer, peeling off the waxed paper.

Slightly beat egg white and brush over the top. Combine 1/4 cup sugar with cinnamon and sprinkle on top.

Bake at 350 degrees 25-30 minutes. Cool and store in the refrigerator.

Serve these up with a hot cup of coffee or hot cocoa,yummm yum!

I wanted to show off some of Mr.GoldieLoo Woodworks work. :) Chuck can build anything and has pretty much built everything in our house, pie safe, apothecary cabinet, wood trash bin, shelves, nightstand, coffee & end tables plus so much more.

He don't like to sell out of state as he hates packing large stuff & worries over shipping large items. But occasionally he will build stuff for family & friends who want to buy. Here are a few things he made for a friend.

In Memory Of Jessica

This is a sign I made in memory of my beautiful niece we lost in a automobile accident last summer.
My brothers girl friend asked me to make one like this for her to give him for Christmas. I made this one for Jessica's mom and a few more for family members. Jessica wrote this,she was a very gifted writer and talented singer.

Snow Day!

I have been so busy lately,I've not had time to create anything new,try new recipes,barley time for talking on the phone(what I do best;)). But I did find some time to take a walk in the snow with my doggies.♥

On our walks the dogs usually stay a ways head of me sniffing along their way. But Miss Lucy is always the most close to me, never too far away. As you can see everytime I knelt down to take a picture,she thought it was fun time and came barreling at me.

I finally got all my Christmas decor put away. The house always feels so empty to me. But to make things all better :) I got my sweet talented hubby to build me this little cabinet. It fits perfectly in the spot I wanted to put it.I also hung a few of my dough bowls above it.

My buddy Starla AKA Briar Rabbit Prims made me this sweet sweet prim snowman. I just could not bare to put him away,he may stay out all year long.

Once again,my prim Goose from my buddy Jen AKA Prairie House Primitives.

I also added a few Game Boards to my collection grouped on this wall. I have Game Boards all over my house though.

Looky what I got! Some might call it junk but its a little treasure chest of old goodies to me.

Now what to do with it is the big question. My dear brother Danny is always giving me old "stuff". I just wanted a few of these things to go with my collections but he insisted I take it all. I have a few old medicine bottles and tins so I knew I wanted a few more to add to them. I have a small collection of tobacco tins and found a few more to add them too.
I love the old suitcase but not sure what to do with it. So if anyone has any decorating ideas please let me know.

The Countdown to Christmas

Can you believe just 1 day till Christmas Eve? 2 till Christmas ? How is it something I wait all year long for, counting down the days after Halloween can get here so FAST ? Seems like its here in no time after Halloween & just a flash after Thanksgiving.

I got pretty much everything done and was able to play around with some paper clay, I have been wanting to do this for the past year. This is my first snowman head. Most people question if that is his tongue sticking out of his mouth. Well if snowmen have peppermint tongues it is,lol. I have a long way to go but here is my first paper clay creation.

Just before I took this picture there was a sweet little bridie checking out this birdhouse. I think it would make a nice witner home for my featherd friends.

Yea! Yippieeeee! This is a Jim Dandy Christmas!

The little brown truck stopped by my house today.At first I thought someone had sent us a chain saw but much much better. I got me a GOOSE in a chainsaw box!

Jen AKA The Prarie House Primitives sent me this beautiful primtastic Goose she made. Its so so cool. In the card Jen sent along it reads..."Merry Christmas. Every girl should have a Goose!" LOL. Love it!

My TDIPT Christmas swap from Mo ♥

Its TDIPT Swap time again! This year we decided to do a secret swap in the group. We all agreed to a handmade and to send along some other goodies. We each filled out a questioner as to our likes and dislikes so that we can sort of customize our swap especially for our partners. As the gifts roll in we each post pictures in the group for everyone to see. Each of us seem to have a inner child among us as we all get so excited over everyone's swaps. I have thoroughly enjoyed seeing all swaps this year, there's been some unbelievable eye candy. I am so honored to be among such talented artist.

Well guess what little naughty Christmas angel got my name this year? Miss Mo, Melissa AKA Wings & Paws Whimsies.

LOL these said "Do not eat!" on the tag. They sure looked good enough to eat but they were for the dogs. It's a good thing Mo put that tag on there because I was ready to set down with a cup of coffee with one of those. ;)

Each and everything I pulled out of the box was wrapped to Prim perfection & smelled so yummy.

Look at this adorable little dog stamp Mo used.

Mo even had her own customized Wings & Paws Ribbon to wrap presents with.

I mean it when I say I hit the mother load ! Check it all out...Mo made me the Soldered Art doggy house,a sweet Soldered Art ornie that was tucked away in a cute little rusty doggy tin, a handcrafted Christmas journal.The journal came inside of a Vintage style Christmas muslin bag. She sent along some wonderful smelling tarts and a blueberry soy candle made by her momma. Some gourmet dog treats for my pack. Belgian chocolates (yummm), Monogrammed note cards,doggy notepad, A Dog lovers companion book (can not wait to start readingthat!), a book marker ( I'm sure Mo made) sachet of lavender & a prim Santa pillow tuck that smells divine.

Check out this little Soldered Art Christmas Ornie that Mo made, isn't it divine? It came in this sweet vintage looking bag which was tucked inside the little rusty dog tin.

As much as I love it all I have to say this Soldered Art Dog house with my doggies pictures is my favorite. It brought tears to my eyes when I seen it as I know Mo made this just for me and put in a great many hours doing so. I can't get over all the details she put into this, its just amazing !

She even used a picture I took last winter of a old house and added to the back of this. Very clever!

I love this adorable pop up card Mo sent along.

Each & everything was wrapped beautifully in festive papers with shiny red tinsel & vintage Christmas stamped muslinbags.

I love it all Mo, many many thanks again!

My Christmas decor seldom changes, I pretty much decorate everything the same year after year. I'm very traditional when it comes to decorating. I have certain ornaments that have to go on the tree every year.

Some have been on my families tree for as long as I can remember,even some belonging to my great grandmother.

This sweet little sled is one of many Chuck & I made several years ago.

This little tree in my kitchen has the same decorations that it has had for the past 10 years. Even the popcorn has been on it all this time. I just put it in a plastic bag and store it in the attic every year. (I might add I have had a hard time keeping my newphew from tasting the popcorn over the years. ;))

My Christmas Gift Suggestions sign is another favorite of mine.

This year,because my home is shrinking ;) ;) ;) I decided to have a smaller Christmas tree because honestly I just didn't have room unless I moved some big pieces and I just was not in the mood for that. So I used my little 4 foot tree. I put it inside this old crock,on top of a box to make it look a bit bigger. Its small and simple.

Of course I have to show my awesome Noel banner I got from my buddy Ivonne AKA The Crackling Crows this year.

Vermont Maple Cookies

I found this recipe in the new Gooseberry Patch Christmas magazine. I made them over the weekend,they were such a hit I thought I'd share with my readers.

*Vermont Maple Cookies*

1/2 cup shortening

1 cup light brown sugar, packed

1/2 c. sugar

2 eggs

1 cup sour cream

1 tablespoons maple extract or flavoring (but not maple syrup, which isn’t potent enough)

2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour

1/2 teaspoon baking soda

1 teaspoon salt

1 cup chopped walnuts

Mix shortening, sugar, and eggs thoroughly. Stir in sour cream and maple flavoring. In a separate bowl, stir together flour, soda, and salt; blend with wet ingredients. Mix in nuts.

Heat oven to 375 degrees. Drop rounded tablespoonfuls of dough about 2” apart on greased baking sheet. Bake about 10 minutes, or until almost no imprint remains when touched lightly. When cooled, spread with maple butter glaze.

Maple Butter Glaze

Heat 1/2 cup butter until golden brown. Blend in 2 cups confectioner’s sugar and 2 teaspoons maple extract. Stir in 2 to 4 tablespoons hot water until icing spreads smoothly.

I went to a friends house yesterday evening to try to get a picture of a Screech Owl that had been staying in a old tree next to his house. When I got there he had gotten a bit camera shy and went back into the log. Upon waiting I snapped a few pictures of my buddy Tessa. She wasn't ready to have her pictures made but kindly obliged me.

Finally about dark the Owl starts peeking out of the log enough I was able to get this shot. Not the best shot but he sure is cute.

sadly one of them didn't make it. She had a genetic problem with her spine.

A week of Dogs !

It started last Thursday when I discovered a beautiful mix breed dog had been dropped off at some friends house. They asked me to help them with her, she had been there for about 4 days and they didn't want her. They were going to take her to the dog pound the next day.

So, after sleeping on it I decided I couldn't stand the thought of her going to a pound. So I went and got her Friday. I contacted the 3 humane society's that are closet to me which is around 45 miles always. All 3 were full so we were put on a waiting list. I sure dreaded the wait because this beauty was loaded with personality and was just the type I was going to become attached to fast. I sent out some pictures of her to friends and family and it wasn't long before I got a call from my sister-in-law who said she was sure she wanted her. She & her husband had lost their beloved Rottie to cancer earlier this spring and were ready for a new furry friend again. She has now been named "Maggie" and has a awesome home and loving family. In dog rescue so many times we don't get to see such happy endings so needless to say we were very happy.

THEN A FEW DAYS LATER......

I get a call from my hubby who was out in a pasture looking for his dads glove. His dad had a accident the day before and lost it. Upon looking for the glove he discovered 6 puppies bundled together in the tall grass. Someone had left them there to die. They could barely see or hear, still wobbly on their feet with pretty puppy blue eyes and my favorite smell, puppy breath.

How could anyone leave this to die ???

6 tiny Beagle/Basset mixes, 3 boys & 3 girls.

I get so very angry when I think about the people who do this, it never seems to end. One of my wishes is to have some sort of ESP so that I could be alerted when these kind of people are near me. I don't want to smile and be polite to them no more than I would a child molester or murders. They are all the same in my book. But sadly these kind of folks lead a double life and most of us have no clue who they are.

This is my nephew,Spencer.He loved them all. Even after getting a little puppy poo on himself,lol. ;)

These pups have been taken in by Northeast Arkansans for Animals (NAFA) non-profit, tax-deductible rescue organization for animals. They have a very kind lady who fosters nothing but puppies. Lucky for these pups she was down to 4 so they got to go stay with her untill they can be put up for adoption.

After what seems like the longest and the hottest summer I have ever known ,Arkansas is finally having cool fall like weather and man are we HAPPY! Sunday morning was so cool and brisk the dogs got all excited as we were going on our morning walk. Even old Goldie ran after the others just a little bit.

I decorated for fall several weeks ago but with it just not feeling like fall I didn't do much but since its actually feeling like fall I find myself adding a little more here & there.

We have to enjoy it while we can though. The weather man says in the low 80's by the weekend,that's just a little too warm for me.I guess I'll just have to remember and compare it to the 100 degree humid weather we were having back in July & August then maybe it wont feel so bad.

My Yard Sale Treasure

I seldom ever go to yard sales and when I do I even more seldom ever find a great deal. A few weeks ago was the exception. Check this out..for $25.00! I know its a old very prim desk.I have no idea how old but it sure shows lots of wear. Over the years the top has been replaced along with the hinges. Some extra cubby wholes were added inside. And it looks like it had been stored in a leaky old barn but all in all its in pretty good solid shape.

So I cleaned and scrubbed on this baby for hours then gave it a good hand waxing. Im happy with the results and ready to hit more yard sales.

Sergeant Stubby

I find myself becoming a bigger fan of pit bulls and wanting to protect the breed more & more everyday. When we first found Lucy over a year ago because of all the bad rap I was somewhat reluctant to keep her. My heart told me she was just what she appeared to be, lovable,smart and silly. But as I was searching for information on the breed all I pretty much got was the bad rap. Pages & pages of horror stories. Since then I have learned most of the stories are not true. This is a awesome breed of dog who gets the worst case of bad rap ever.

~ Punish the deed not the breed.~

I just ran across this story and had to share it.

Most people Have never heard of Sergeant Stubby, yet he is the most decorated dog in military history. Sergeant Stubby was a Pit Bull Mix who fought in the trenches of France during WWI for 18 months. During the 17 battles that this little Pit Bull fought in he warned his fellow solders of gas attacks, located wounded solders out on the battle field and listened for incoming artillery rounds. Sergeant Stubby was even responsible for capturing a German spy at Argonne who was mapping the layout of Allied trenches.

During WWI Sergeant Stubby’s heroism was well known and he became the only dog every to receive a battle field promotion in history. After one of the battles the women of the French village of Domremy presented him with a hand-sewn chamois coat, decorated with Allied flags and his name stitched in gold thread.

After the war, Sergeant Stubby was invited to the White House and met with three Presidents: Woodrow Wilson, Calvin Coolidge, and Warren G. Harding. He was, also made a lifetime member of the American Legion, the Red Cross, and the YMCA.

Happy 25th Anniversary to the love of my life!

25 years ago today I was one nervous little chick. Chuck (Mr. GoldieLoo Woodworks)& I had decided we wanted to get married but didn't want any fuss over it and no wedding. I'm the odd ball girl who hates weddings. Its crazy I know, but they rate right up there with going to a dentist in my book. So Chuck & I came up with a scheme to elope. And so we did to the JP's house in the next town. My poor parents had no idea what was going on till we were hitched and I made the call to tell them news. Other than not telling my family I have no regrets and would do it all over again.

Wild Geese

As I stepped outside this morning I could see my horse was looking at something out in our pasture. Upon a closer look I could see bunches of these funny looking heads poking up from our old pond.

This area of Arkansas does not have any wild geese, just the ones that stop along their trip to wherever they are going. Its been 2 years since I have seen any here so its a treat to see them again.

I ran back into the house and got my camera along with the 300 mm zoom lens. I was able to zoom in and capture these pictures.

I have heard people say these birds can get aggressive but I think they are beautiful and wish they would have stuck around. They are welcome back anytime.

Antique Medicine Cabinet

My 25th wedding Anniversary is coming up & my brother Danny was sure not to forget by giving us a gift early. He knows how much we love and treasure Antiques. So he gave us this old medicine cabinet. The old house it came out of is in our hometown, Imboden. It dates back to the early 1900's. I think for the 25th your supposed to give silver but to me this is way better. ♥

Now just to get Chuck to strip and refinish it for me :)

I haven't decided yet if I'm going to use it as its intended to be used or just as a little cabinet somewhere in the house. However I use it I'm going to love it.

As you can see the spiders took over the inside of it, its full of yucky spider eggs.

Danny also gave us this old movie poster, I have no idea what or who this is about and not sure if its going in the house or not. It looks like time has took its toll on it.

I was amazed with the heat index well ablove 100 that Mariah did not sweat. I was sweating like a preacher in a whore house.What's with that ? Maybe it's a old age thing.:)

I remember goofing off on this bridge when I was a teen.Now it scares the poop out of me.Guess thats another old age thang. ;)

I was not too big on taking pictures at the train tracks but my brother thought we should do so. Now Im glad that I did,I got several good shots of her there.

I got a new zoom lens Friday for my Olympus DSLR. A 70-300MM zoom. Oh this baby is so much fun to play with. I can hide behind trees and sneak pictures of unsuspecting people.

I have not left my little homestead since getting this so it was back to taking pictures of dogs, flowers and as you will see,my horse Black Bart.

He was quite always from the house in these so I took full advantage of my zoom.

If you look closely you can see a haze in the distnace, that's our lovely humidity, our free for all outdoor sauna.;)

What a fun evening and following day I had when I got to meet my buddy Cookie AKA Curds & Whey. I came to know Cookie when I joined TDIPT several years ago. I have meet people on the internet and imagined what they would look like or act like if I ever met them in person. Well let me tell you, Cookie was everything I imagined and more. Meeting her for the first time in person was like seeing a long time friend. There was never a moment when we were at a loss for words. We laughed and cut up the whole time we were together. Cookie and her hubby Darrell are 2 of the finest, sweetest, coolest and funniest folks my husband & I have ever had the honor of meeting.

One of the places we took Cookie & Darrell was the Grand Gulf State Park in Thayer Mo. This is a really cool place but in the fall or winter when its cool or even COLD, NOT in the summer when the weathermen are warning to stay out of the heat if possible. Plus with the leaves on the trees it was hard to see the sights. Sorry about that Cookie. :)

Often referred to as Missouri's "Little Grand Canyon," Grand Gulf State Park offers visitors a chance to view a variety of natural wonders. From a canyon to a cave to a natural bridge -- this state park has plenty to see and much to do. The 322-acre park presents the most spectacular collapsed cave system in the Ozarks. Part of the cave's roof forms one of the largest natural bridges in the state, spanning 200 feet with an opening 75 feet high and 50 feet wide.

The first stop of the day was at Mammoth Springs State Park.

Mammoth Spring is Arkansas's largest spring and the second largest spring in the Ozark Mountains. A National Natural Landmark, the spring flows nine million gallons of water hourly. Forming a scenic 10-acre lake, it then flows south as the Spring River, a popular Ozark trout and float stream. Located near the spring, the park's 1886 Frisco depot will take you back in time to an early 1900s train station. Parked just outside the train station is a Frisco caboose to explore, too.

I received a email last week from Wannda Turner, Director of Northeast Arkansans For Animals. She sent me this picture of a sign I had donated that was adorned by the sweetest little puppy that was for adoption.

I had donated this sign and another similar one to NAFA as I thought it would be great addition to their table when they have pet adoption day as they do most every Saturday at Petco. Wannda and the other volunteers with NAFA work tirelessly to help find homes for orphaned pets and they do a remarkable job.

Thanks Wannda for sending me this sweet sweet picture and a great BIG THANKS to everyone with NAFA for all you do.

I find myself setting hours at a time going through picture albums and thinking about my times with Jessica,Devin & Spencer.I have so many stories about them. I'm so thankful for my memories of the 3 kids together and of Jessica.

Here is a couple of Jess and Biscuit not long after we rescued him. Jess was a animal lover like me.

Jess was always happy to model for me.

This is not such a good picture but I love that we all were together and had the giggles. Great memories.(My BIL Gary,Spencer,Devin,Jess & silly Aunt Pam)

I love this one.Always happy to strike a pose, Jess pointing the toy gun was priceless.This is my very favorite picture of her.

Jessica was a amazing poet,song writer and had a beautiful voice.

Today is a pretty sad day for GoldieLoo Woodworks and all the family. We lost a very dear member of our family last night. I was awakened at 5:30 this morning from my mother. Telling me the news that my niece & her boy friend had been killed in a car wreak. They had tried to miss hitting a deer and wreaked the car they were in.

Several weeks ago we took our friendly furry pack for a Sunday afternoon ride out on the country roads. We don't usually let them ride in the back of the truck but when we are on the gravel and can drive slow we occasionally let them and they love it. Goldie seems to love it most, she always has. She would sleep in the bed of our truck if we would let her. She has gotten so old she can no longer jump in the back of our truck so we lift her in and lift her out.

As you can see Goldie's second favorite thing is water. We came upon a little creek and thought we would let the dogs out to let them get a drink and explore a but. As always Goldie hits the water. She loves it, she lays in it, pees and poo's in it was well. Yes, YUCK! We try to discourage her, especially if there is people in the water but she just cant help herself. Thank goodness Biscuit & Lucy choose to explore dry land. :)

My dear sweet brother brought me these cool old food choppers Saturday. He said he seen them at a yard sale and thought I would like them. Now how SWEET is THAT? Wouldn't even let me pay for them (probably because he knows I'm a tight wad and wouldn't pay what he gave for them,lol). I think they are so neat,thanks Bro!

If it's old & rusty, you can pretty much bet I'm gonna like it. Such as my hubby's old tractor, He has 3 of these babies now. Some folks might think they are just junk but I think they are beautiful. Now if he had 3 new tractors,heck, I don't think I would like them near as much. These old tractors have stories to tell. He want's to restore them but Im happy with them just as they are.

I was out early this morning,walking the dogs and snapped a few more pictures of some wildflowers growing in our pasture. We seem to have more wildflowers this year than the other past years. Along with that we have many many more ticks this year. So I didn't get to far off the path for snapping pictures. :)

Happy Birthday Miss Lucy Sky ! As many of you know, we rescued Lucy last year when she had been dropped off on the side of a country gravel road. Being a pit with a bad rap we could not find a home for her so she became ours and thank goodness she did because we can't imagine our life without her now

At the time we found her our Vet thought she was around a year. Last week made 1 year to the day.
Her middle name really should be Lucy Love because she has so much of it to give. I have never seen a dog full of so much love for everyone and everything. Believe me, all the horrible "Pit Bull" stories are just that!

My brother may well be the best Brother EVER! He is a antique collector and every once in awhile I'm the lucky recipient of something he "don't need" He surprised be with this beautiful Vintage Phone the other day. He had 3 and figured he didn't need another.Lucky ME! HA! It's close to being in mint condition. I'm amazed everytime I think about how thrilled people where back in the old days to have the luxury of this kind of phone and to think of these teeny tiny cell phones we use now. I think my super Bro even gave me the old eye glasses I have on the phone.

I have been a bit Daisy Crazy lately. I have been experimenting with the settings on my camera. This evening just before sunset I went out to see what I could get this baby to do. The dogs wouldn't set still for me so more Daisy pictures it is. :)

I was up till almost 2AM this morning editing a bunch of photo's I took Sunday.

I had several I was not crazy about and was fixing to delete them when I became inspired to work on them, I'm now so glad I didn't delete them.

Let me introduce my cousin...well actually my cousins little girl, Liz. Liz hates either me or my camera. I tend to think it was the camera as every time I would aim it at her she would quickly jerk her head the other direction. One day she will be like her big sis, Alexis and love to have her pictures made.Right now all she wants to do is kiss my dogs and get dirty.

I noticed today I had not took any pictures of my nephew lately. He has gotten the where he does not want his picture taken but when he will let me take his picture he wants to make silly faces. His mom requested some pictures of him today so I managed to get him to let me take a few. This one was my favorite.

LOL, In this picture he really did see something jump up out in the weeds and I snapped just in time to get this funny face! ~Priceless♥

Wow, look, the sun is shinning and its a glorious day here in Arkansas. But as you see, my day has gone to the dogs. That's ok though, I find them to be great cheap entertainment. :) The dog's "cousin" MoJo came up this morning for a little play time.

Biscuit thinks he is the Referee, Lucy & MoJo play and he runs along beside them barking.

Goldie, just want's to stay out of it!

Lucy loves MoJo, MoJo's not so sure,lol.

Goofy Holder Family Pictures

I ran across these pictures and they never struck me as being funny till I got to looking a bit closer.

I always thought this one was funny because of the expression on my brothers face & my sister was sticking her tongue out but I got to thinking about our neighbor kid in the background with the toy gun to us. We didn't think anything of it at the time but now days it might not be so funny.

Here is another I find found funny. My brother was always the slob, check out that shirt, looks like he got some milk on it. He was always eatting cookies & milk which you can see on the arm of the sofa. And a rare picture of me(center) looking like a little lady which I was not.

Im the little one in the middle. I was wondering what was going on to have me make such a funny face. I think I was just acting goofy, which is the norm in my family. (Granny looks like she had been hitting the bottle the night before. :) My brother holding our family pet, No No (what a name!)

Lastly ....I honestly can not figure out why I insisted on posing like this but mom says I had a fit to have my picture taken in this bathing suit, wearing this huge sunglasses in front of the family station wagon. Maybe this was the beginning and the end of my swimsuit modeling career ? LOL
