Goldie Loo

We got bad news last week about our dear Goldie Loo. She has been dramatically loosing weight in the past 3 or 4 months. She has had cancer removed in the past and we were warned it would come back. Meanwhile she has fatty tumors and skin tags popping up all over her old body,it's like the poor girl has been cursed. Once she started loosing weight so fast Chuck & I knew something more than just old age was going on. So we took her to her vet last week who confirmed we we thought. She has cancer. Most likely in her lymph nodes and has spread to her stomach & lungs. For the past about 8 months she has had a tumor that comes up in the same spot on the outside of her mouth. It is so disgusting, stinks, bleeds oozes of nasty foul smelling stuff. Needless to say we have not encouraged anyone to come visit during these times as hard as I try to keep it clean it still has a horrible smell. This is most likely where the cancer has started. It went away(basically rotted) several weeks ago,was gone 2 days and came back quickly. Even if she were young & healthy enough for the surgery the tumor will keep coming back.
She don't seem to be in any major pain. The tumor makes it hard for her to eat so everything she eats is hand feed to her & she still has a good appetite. We are giving her 1 Ensure a day which she loves. She is still going to potty on her own, barks when the other dogs bark, wagging her tail and talking short walks with us which surprises us as skinny as she has gotten that she has still been able to do.
Goldie just turned 15 back in June. We know we are very fortunate to have had her this long and thankful for every day we have left with her. Goldie has been a great dog. She has always loved every dog she ever met. She still acts like a puppy but in a old dogs body. So we are spending as much time as we can with her while we can. My therapy has been looking at all the wonderful pictures I have taken of her over the years which I will post as soon as I can.
I wanted to add more recent pictures of her but she just looks to bad.
This is one of my favorite puppy pictures.

I am so sorry about your doggy, I know you love her so much. I had a black lab that had cancer and died last year. I took her for an operation to remove a tumor without thinking that was the last time I would see her alive. The vet called me after she was sedated and told me there were so many tumors in her throat that he couldn't even insert the tubes for surgery, He advised me to put her to sleep while she was under anesthesia. I did, and it broke my heart, I still cry over her. But I know she is in heaven playing with my other doggy Chassy.
You're doggie has those sad eyes like my Lilly, and I can tell she is so loyal and loveable!!
My thoughts and prayers are with you, our pets are just like our childen. Bunches of hugs, Lecia

Thinking of you and sending hugs and prayers during this difficult time.
What a beautiful and loyal companion. I pray that the many years of love and memories will forever shine brightly in your heart!
We had to say good-bye last month to our big "grand-dog" Hercules. He was 14 and lost his hearing and his sight was going too. He was a gentle giant being half Newfoundland and half Chocolate lab! My daughter and family had to put him down, as it just wasn't fair to leave him in pain because they couldn't let go. He loved to hike and run along side the boys but just couldn't do it any more. He had a good long life, so I know how you are feeling.
Take care.
hugz,
Sheila
